wingell 0 Posted January 29, 2009 Al Roberts, 75, has been selling ice cream from trucks in the Binghamton area for more than 50 years. Here, a Binghamton teacher treats her fourth-grade class to cones on the last day of the school year. In 1969, the Mister Softee corporate headquarters asked Roberts to take two of his trucks down to a music festival in Sullivan County, NY. Consequently, Roberts ended up parked in a field for three days selling ice cream to the surrounding 450,000 young people attending Woodstock. He and his crew took turns napping on the truck floors. He says the only performer he remembers hearing was Janice Joplin. Cheers...Bill Link to comment
