Here's another shot used to illustrate a magazine article about

General George Washington's scorched-earth campaign against native

Americans who in 1779 were aiding the British in the fight against the

colonial revolution. Washington ordered Major General John Sullivan

and a force of 5,000 soldiers to destroy Indian villages and crops

across northern New York. Sullivan and his men did just that, and

historians now want a battleground near Elmira set aside as a national

battlefield park. Comments and critiques are always welcomed.
