Hi Trish-

My comments below hold for both of your photos of this subject, but I'm putting all the comments under one. You have a lovely idea and color scheme going here. The tendrils add a real feeling of delicacy. The problem I see with your photo is that there is a significant hot spot right in the middle of the largest subject. That leaf should be yellow, not white in the middle. Unfortunately, either your flash has blown out all color and detail there where the sunlight is also strongest, or your expsoure is adjusted for the darker areas and is letting in too much light for that area (however, it really looks like the flash to me as the rest of the upper part of the photo is not over-exposed). That hot spot dramatically reduces the artistic beauty... kind of like a painting in which the artist has left an unpainted spot in the middle where the canvas shows through. I don't know what you use for a flash. I assume you are shooting TTL. If the flash is a pop-up on top of the camera, this is the result you will get virtually every time you get really close to a subject. The flash needs to be angled upward and away from your subject - indirect lighting that is bounced will not produce the blow out if you shoot manual exposure to control your aperture/ISO /shutter speed. Experiment with it. You have a good eye - keep up the good, creative work. I hope to more of it on PN. (Aren't the Bahamas great for photography?!)

hi there...thanks so much for your detailed comment......

the bright spot you see is the sun....i never or hardly use flash............for a shot like this i would never ever use flash because of the natural light that you can see.......

i agree that the spot is too bright.... also the crop is a bit tight...it is not a perfect imagine for sure but it has some magic and i so appreciate your remarks !!!

bahamas is so cool for shooting due to the light and the beauty !!
