For those who have viewed this already, my apologies. I was not happy after viewing

this image in it's original posting when I saw it this morning on a different monitor.

After applying some selective dodging to the distracting gray shadow to the right, I feel

better about it. Please view larger, thank you!

I had to flick back and forth between the two and it seems my monitor will not display the difference. Regardless, this is beautiful. Fabulous details and perfect composition. Thanks for sharing

It's been a pretty brutal winter this year in upstate NY. You've done a fine job showcasing Michigan in winter! This one looks better than the other image on my monitor which I calibrate periodically.

Well done, Richard!

Thank you, Kathy! I have just started to work on printing which seems as though it is going to be a difficult process to master, which includes monitor calibration of which I know nothing. Another challenge...but a fun one!

Have a good weekend!

It looks like you have this snowscape thing down pretty good. Also looks like the 18-200 lens works pretty well. I bought the 14-24 lens with the idea of doing some landscapes, but can't seem to get away from the birds. 7/6

Richard, I think I see the differences and I think this helps for the shot as it stands. I love the ice flows on the hill and wonder if the picture might not be more effective by some additional cropping to focus on their natural beauty. Do the trees on the rigt add that much to the picture? Just a thought. -- Charles

Thank you very much, Monte and Charles!

Monte, the 18-200 VR has served me well. I have a Sigma 10-20 that I was going to use for this shot but my fingers were so cold that I didn't trust myself to change lenses. The 14-24 should be a primo performer on your D3. Now, you just need to tear yourself away from the birds for a few hours:-)

Charles, I agree with your thoughts on this. I have another view posted in portrait orientation. I wanted this shot to give a sense of the sweeping frozen river. I have more images to work with. I appreciate your comments.

Regards,

Dick

Richard, I have Spyder 3 Pro. It wasn't very expensive. If I can learn it, so can you. :O) I calibrate once a month.
