leo burkey 0 Posted January 23, 2009 This is actually two buildings in downtown Ft Lauderdale, Florida. The building on the left was lit by an an overcast sky which produced a nice soft feeling to the building and the one on the right was in complete shade. The color rendition does have some merit but I found the B&W to be more expressive. I toned the image in both Ektalure Cream and selenium for their color effect. I do enjoy seeing and photographic these abstract building images. I will add the RAW file for your viewing. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted January 26, 2009 as a matter af fact I like these subjects as well although I prefer to do them more graphically. but you've got a problem here. This has been done so often and to be frank so much better that it would take a lot to improve on that and I don't think you did ( a small comfort, I didn't either). Personal preferences aside the toning is not the best choice here in my opinion while there isn't really a point of interest. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted January 27, 2009 I'm completely lost as to your comment except for the part about the toning. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted January 27, 2009 it's like photographing the Eiffeltower. In order to make a really interesting photo, interesting as in light used, composition, context and what not, that's above and beyond what's already done a zillion times you've got to come up with something really original in order to stand out. You didn't and therefore it doesn't. Link to comment
