stefan.bogdan 0 Posted January 22, 2009 Hello Barry and sorry for the low rates I gave you. There are some things I don't like in this photo: The shadow that cuts the nipple in half, the 2 hard shadows under the breast, the color of the towel witch is so close to the color of the skin. Considering that the name of the photo is self portrait the subject of the photo should have had more light and it should have been also sharp. I hope i have not offended you with my critiques and i wish you a nice evening. Link to comment
bjcarlton 0 Posted January 23, 2009 You haven't offended me in the least. Actually, your 4/4 ratings are rather high for this image. Sigh. Even if they were low, though, I appreciate your explanation for what you find unappealing. That helps me decide whether I agree with those points. It also helps me see the image through the eyes of others, in a way which the simple numbers don't. In this case, for example, you dislike the shadow across the breast. I can see your point, and would definitely agree if this were a studio shot. This one, however, was just a found shot in our new bathroom. It just started off as a way to take a picture in which I was included, something I've become interested in lately; the title is meant to be a bit wry. None of that means your comments are wrong; quite the opposite: you don't have the story behind the image and are looking at it objectively, which is the reason people should be posting here (not just to gather praise). bjcarlton 0 Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks! I rather liked it, but the image has been getting a lukewarm reception at best. Certainly was pleasant to photograph, though. Link to comment

Elstad 7 Posted February 20, 2009 It's so good that you've finally admitted to having a feminine side and are allowing it to come out... freckles, which I do dearly love, and all... A most charming self portrait is this indeed! Link to comment
bjcarlton 0 Posted February 20, 2009 The best artists try to remain in touch with their feminine sides . . . and if they have freckles, so much the better! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 2, 2009 I know it must be medication time, but I have this recurring image playing through my febrile mind of myself getting out of the shower, looking into the full length mirror, and seeing a camera lens poking through from between my legs. I'm living in fear. Now stop that! Link to comment
