Autumn Wave - North Moat Mountain

harrylichtman

A view toward Carter Notch in the distance, as fall colors inch their way down the slopes. This is an exmple of one of my favorite types of images. While there isn't any crazy sunset/sunrise light to attract a lot of attention, there are highly detailed elements of interest that wind throughout the image-from tiny rocks and leaves, to colorful swaths of foliage and clouds.

Colors creep along the southern White Mnts of NH. The duel notches-

the obvious one in the distant mnts(Carter Notch) and the small notched

granite in the FG- were the compositional ties for me in this image.

Comments welcome.

harry, you've nailed it brother.the vivid colours starting from the foreground to the

background in a vertical composition have added to the visual appeal.I wish the

foreground rocks were a liitle more sharper.well done.

Very nice composition, vibrant colors and good use of GND filter to balance the foreground with the background. I agree that a bit more sharpness (read: DOF) of the foreground rocks would have made this shot perfect!

Kind regards, Alberto.

Awesome location, that's such a neat nook with the colors and that pair of trees. The colors look a little odd to me, particularly the mountains and clouds. The look too gray/purple to me. The comp is spot on though!

Thanks for your comments. Rahul and Alberto, the sharpness of the FG appears sharp to me, and I checked the file again, so I'm not sure about the softness that you see. Floris- the original file had the clouds and mnts a bit too cyan, so I have tried to make them a more natural greyish blue which they appeared to me. Maybe a little too purplish- I can play around with them some more.

Thanks, Harry
