I just saw a movie(israel production) a few weeks ago about the female soldiers. I don`t remember the name of it, but i never did know what really is going on there beside a news about a blown bus, up until then! This photo reminds me again, that life there is always "on the edge", and lucky are the ones who can have a goodnight sleep. ..

I hope she was dreaming about a hot chocolate in front a fireplace. At least she seems dreaming of that..

I remember you I think from Capuccino Coffee :-) Thank you for commenting. I have many "soldier" photos and many are female. Security is tight in Jerusalem just because of as you say, "blown bus" and cafes etc.

 

it's a good portrait and because of her closed eyes we could easily project a reflective moment of piece and quit here in a crazed world where it not that the truth is often more mundain. Anyway her posture is suggestive and you did capture a worthwhile moment here. An ordinary but strong and convincing scene. It looks deceivingly easy to shoot such a photo but more often than not it's not serendipity but the talent of the photographer that is the decisive factor as I think it's here. Very good b&w as well, not that that's a surprise.

Thank you for commenting. I do not know "serendipity". Is it a good word? Not too easy to shoot. She seems asleep but the other soldiers around are not :-) As you know from your experience there is always that chance for confrontation which is what I do not like about this job! Again thanks
