Guest Guest Posted July 16, 2002 A beautiful composition that pleasantly departs from the standard butterfly photograph. Link to comment
squirrelman 0 Posted July 17, 2002 Beautiful composition and color. BTW, I believe this is a moth, not a butterfly. Link to comment
mplonsky 0 Posted August 2, 2002 Anyone know what it is? Does the background work for it? Link to comment

umd 0 Posted August 9, 2002 Excellent composition, light and DOF. This one is surely a butterfly, not a moth. Link to comment

stephen_lau1 0 Posted August 17, 2002 I like the composition and color of this shot. Very nice macro indeed. Personally, I perfer a more natural looking background. Link to comment
robert_thomas6 0 Posted January 1, 2003 I believe it is a Fritilary (spelling ?) butterfly, not a moth. You can distinguish between the two by the antenna's. A moth's look similar to feathers. Link to comment
manny 0 Posted January 15, 2003 I think it works incredibly well... First because the blackness really makes you wonder where this butterfly is and where it will fly to... Second, the amount of space you left above leaves room for it to fly away... Third, the rich black highlights the beatiful colors of the butterfly... Just a beautiful shot... Link to comment
jeff_cagle 0 Posted June 13, 2004 The species is Phyciodes tharos, the Pearl Crescent. Nice shot! Link to comment
