Yours is one site I always look forward to visit because I honestly never know what to expect. You don't seem to have any particular "style" except to say "it's a Berryhill". This is quite a good picture in its sepia tones austerity. The strip of lighter ground at the top gives the illusion that the house is hovering just above the earth

You are so right. I do suffer from style deficiency, Maybe I'll grow out of it. However, I have looked back at my old pics, like this, and realized that I'm shooting the same kinds of scenes now. So at least I've remained consistently inconsistent.

Takes one to know one. I'm just glad you keep on surprising me.

You posted a picture of this place some time ago & I thought it was one of your best. This one I think is a better composition. Middle of the day? There's a very short shadow from the tree.

 

Also Doug, I thought that "Despair" was an excellent photo. I didn't comment in time.

"Despair" wasn't my photo. It was a self-portrait by a photographer friend in a nearby town. I too really thought it was powerful. I wanted to show her that it would be well received here on PhotoNet. But the ratings were low, and I took it off.

This is both very familiar and very interesting to me. Nice choice of tone. You might be able to give me useful critiques since you have an affinity for barren landscapes.
