The photo is in fact "unposed"; I was passing by while this gentleman was watching some children photographing each other!

Some couples just seem to grow apart as they age :-)) Bulent, this picture attests to your photographic bona fides; the first rule (like the boyscouts) is "be prepared" You were and the result is a great shot. Imagine if you came upon this scene without your camera.

The connection is there but not as profound as you see it I think. Mainly because the statue with its splattered head is looking AWAY from camera. Where the bundled up gent is almost defiantly looking at the camera. Likely I am being too picky/ picky. Yes, I am of course, but that is what this forum is all about sometimes. Getting others opinions- which are based on whether the cereal flakes were fresh or soggy for breakfast:-). I still like the fact of the picture as a picture of a strong personality, yet not as a symbol so much maybe. I wish you well and you have a keen eye, Bulent. aloha,...gs

Yes, an odd couple apparently trying to ignore one another. He disgusted with her body drenched in bird poo & she turning to avoid his cigarette smoke. Beneath it all I think I detect a bit of suppressed humour on his part. Another interesting shot, or series of shots, come to mind when I think of him sitting on the other side of her. Good eye! Best, LM

Bulent, made me smile, good timing, well observed, and funny juxtaposition, well converted to B/W as well.

Thank you all very much for your interest and for your comments.

Jack,

You are definitely right. Carrying a small camera with me did open up a new avenue. I now realise that candids offer plenty of opportunities to develop one's photographic skills. There is too much to learn and this is real fun!

Gerry,

I was sort of expecting this because the statue is on my way to work. I thought it might be interesting to record the juxtaposition while I was approaching the scene. The man's attention was directed to some children (behind the camera) and that also helped me get what I wanted. The whole thing was funny and I am pleased to see that it brings people here even from Honolulu! My best.

Len,

You are reading my mind ;)

Pnina,

Nice to hear that. I wish I can always bring a smile to people's faces; my own included...
