Solitary - Male

As summer escalates, the birds in my garden perch deeper into the shade

making it more difficult to get great illumination on them. Roll on winter when

the trees are bare and the sun is at a lower angle........

Great shot Matt, of what looks to be a rare an elusive bird. Nice bokeh too. BTW, not sure if it is rare or elusive, but I like to use that line ;-)

Based on the bird's name I presume it steals bee honey...without getting stung?

These are actually nectar feeders. I expect the name "Honey Eater" is just another idiotic colonialist hangover from the somewhat ignorant British settlers. Harsh , but I suspect, true.........
