Bob Peebles 95 Posted January 11, 2009 I really like this well composed and exposed winter photo. This is a good postcard scene. Link to comment

cjtj50 0 Posted January 12, 2009 This is such a pretty view. I like the birch tree against the white snow along with the greenery. Take care Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 12, 2009 Birches are one of my favorite tree species, and this showcase them so nicely! Wonderful light too. Excellent composition and processing. Stay warm, my friend! I hate to rub it in, but it was 84 degrees F today in Santa Clarita (just north of LA). Cheers! Chris Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 12, 2009 Thank you very much, Robert, Linh, Tony, Cynthia and Chris! This is at the start of a local nature trail. 21 degrees here today. I was enjoying a nice 2006 Verdejo(cheap white wine from Spain) while I worked on this:-). Don't worry Chris, I'll find some warmth somewhere:-)! Have a great night...all! Dick Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 12, 2009 I don't know if you guys have "Trader's Joes" out there; but they have what we call "Two Buck Chuck," "Charles Shaw" Merlot and Cabernet, etc. $1.99 and the stuff is actually pretty darned good table wine from the Napa Valley. So, don't let anybody from California wine-snob you; most of us drink the cheap stuff; and enjoy the warm weather. The bottom line - were just not as tough as you guys! So, when are you gonna come out here and shoot photos with Leo Burkey, Ray Banfield, Mark Geistweite, and I? You just oughta make plans and do it, my friend! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 12, 2009 I like the slight warm tones that the setting sun provides, it does make for an interesting color contrast with the blue skies, the trade off however is that the wonderful texture of these fantastic birch trees is a bit lost in the frontlighting. Doesn't take away from the beauty of the scene though! Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 13, 2009 Hey Chris...thanks for the heads up on the "two buck chuck"! And a special thanks for the invite to join you guys for some real warm weather shooting. Actually I'm looking at a meeting in San Diego in April, but I'm not sure about it yet. My big problem is work. It tends to get in the way of the important stuff:-)! Anyway, thanks for the note and great to hear from you! Thanks, Jose for the nice comment and rating! Tim, thank you, too! This is a good spot. I'm anxious to see what it looks like in the spring with new leaves and wildflowers. Warm regards to all! Dick Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted January 14, 2009 Dick... Well, needless to say this is gorgeous. Wonderfully caught winter scene. I really do wish though that if you northerners are gonna send us your cold weather, at least send some snow too :-)... We're forecast to have single digit wind chill factors this week... it's been a long time since we've had any of those. Of course, no snow..... Mike (in the sunny but cold south). Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks, Mike! These little forays into the woods for photos are getting tougher with the temperatures plummeting(-6 here this am). I have to see the potential shot from my car, grab the camera, get a few shots and get back into the warm car! Keep warm down there, spend some time reading about your D300:-) Dick Link to comment
