gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 10, 2009 The soft light, the morning calm and the embrace conspire to stop time and offer up a touch of the universe in harmony. Link to comment
bob_belanger 1 Posted January 10, 2009 I like the shot and the scene. The solitary figures on the peir looking out over the haze. Link to comment

daily_photograph 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Did I see this place already less zoomed? This one is telling about the - interesting - human tendency to fortify relationships in impressing situations ... Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted January 11, 2009 You have captured a tender moment in human relationship, without intruding into their privacy,Pnina. Very good composition and colours. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 11, 2009 A quiet shot. No intense drama here, just connection. This is certainly a welcome sight. Link to comment

bretsch 0 Posted January 13, 2009 A great view, with a nice composition and a wonderful theme, I'm particularly fond of the way the sea almost merges with the sky, as both people are merging in that embrace. Cheers Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 13, 2009 Lovely how the couple provide the only hint of color and rounded forms in this beautifully geometric picture. A wonderful moment, Pnina. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 13, 2009 I respond to the stillness, and the muted colors are well handled, especially how the sky works against the water. It's interesting how a cloudless and mistless sky can still evoke such atmosphere, partly due to the soft, painterly reflections in the foreground and partly due, I think, to the composition, the iconic way in which the pier juts out into the water. A couple of considerations. The couple seem somewhere in-between being subjects and getting lost. Their clothing, her hat especially, draws attention yet their faces are obscured by lack of clarity and distance. Their positioning is so exactly behind the one piling. On the technical side, to the left of that same piling, the quality of the pier itself changes, as if you brought that back 2/3 out of shadows, so there is less distinction and a fuzzier quality at the back and underside of the pier. LindaM 2 Posted January 13, 2009 a very tender moment. i love the hint of sunlight on the water. warmth coming into a cold day. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 14, 2009 Alison, thanks for stopping by and commenting Juan, thanks for the double merging.... ;-)) human with nature. It was a very nice point if doing it... Jack, you have well depicted the two forms that attracted my eyes.... Emma ,thank you too for your feedback Fred, you have very well analyzed the points that I was aware of. The pier was really far away from my camera/lens point. What was significant for me was the hug ,that was enhanced because of their clothes colors, especially hers with the blue hat, even though not their faces. I liked also the sky and water touch, and the light The pier geometry and details, because of the distance were not very prominent, and I have enhanced them a bit in PS. What I liked in this one is more the atmosphere of the scene despite the lack of many details. Thanks for your well expressed thoughts. Linda, thanks for your impressions, I appreciate it. cherlyn 1 Posted January 14, 2009 Hmm, a private tender moment that is well caught & composed. The space on the left seems to give them plenty of privacy, but still cannot escape your camera :-) Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted January 16, 2009 ... another reason that the shot is slightly soft is that Pnina was on my boat, moving slowly and gently, but moving nonetheless. And while I was with her at the moment in West Falmouth harbor, I never saw this view that she captured so wonderfully. But that is why she is Pnina ... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 16, 2009 By way of clarification, I have no problem with the softness. As a matter of fact, I tend to like photos softer than the average viewer. I find most photos posted to be oversharpened, which is not how my eyes generally see the world. My concern was more about the post processing of the pier and the lack of either being drawn to the couple as more of a subject or having the couple blend in more extremely with their surroundings. pnital 36 Posted January 16, 2009 Dennis, thanks for your clarification, this was really photographed on ,and from your boat and quite far even for my lens. ( but wow, what a trip it was !! and Cape Cod in general!) Fred, most digital photos has to be sharpened at the end of post processing, I do it only ones, if it needs more than ones it is not good. When the difference is so strong as the black pier vs. bright BG, even sharpened once is seen a bit. I think that what was the trigger for me was the couple on the pier, and even though it is a bit soft and the lower pier not having a strong form, I still liked the result , even though your analyzing was to the point. ;-)) Link to comment
