whydangle 0 Posted January 9, 2009 Taken in July at the Sabrina Basin near Bishop, CA. I manually blended 4 different processed files from the same RAW image file. One for a darkened sky, the second for more shadow detail, the third for the rocks and mountain on the left and finally, an overall file for the majority of the scene. I chose this scene for the play of light across the meadow and the intense stormy cloud conditions. My attempt is to render the scene with a painterly appearance. raybrizzi 0 Posted January 9, 2009 It has the rich colors and composition of a landscape painting from the late 1700s / early 1800s. Since that was your goal, you definitely succeeded. Although I don't believe they stressed the bright greens as much back then, most of the ones I've seen have a more yellow tint. Link to comment

dacamera 0 Posted January 10, 2009 It certainly has a nice glow with rich and sumptuous yellows particularly. A beautiful scene, nicely balanced too. Simon Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 12, 2009 So maybe you got something out of my email note from my trip to the Getty too. Wonderful composition and exposure; and this is what plein air landscape painting is all about. Very good work! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks Mike, Ray, Lennart, Simon, Michael and Chris. Hey Chris, your editorial made impressions for sure. I am familiar with the term, I occasionally purchase art magazines and books for inspiration. It was your e-mail, however, that turned on the light switch when I was finishing this image up. You know, this RAW could have ended up with many others, stored away safely and unprocessed. I knew I had something when I took the time to plant my tripod, but the RAW needed a kick in the ass. As I was piecing this together, I remembered your mention of Plein Air. Thanks for the assist. Link to comment
ryourth 0 Posted January 23, 2009 Great clouds, slender trees & the rock face create a great frame for the beautiful, soft grasses, their wide tonal range, highlighted by the soft light falling on the scene Simply put,a visual pleasure to dwell upon, admiring the beauty of your scene.
