woah! i had to double check to make sure i hadn't gone to McRitchie's page! fantastic image. kind of eerie, the way the auto is nearly invisible and almost seems to be spying on the viewer. love the lemon yellow. really great David!!!

Dave;

WOW! you so absolutely nailed this one. You attention to detail makes what could have been merely interesting, spectacular. Getting a shot like this is much harder than it may appear. I love the placement of the car in the frame. The thin band of dark to end the left side balanced with the thin band of white on the right. I won't waste time describing your photo to you, suffice to say, I see a lot of small but significant decisions on your part turning this into something special.

Cmon girl! You know McRitchie has never done anything this good. Ha ha. But if Jack had done it, I'll bet it wouldn't be this brand of car. I'm waiting for someone to tell me what it is. That's the "top secret."

How perceptive you are. The crop came to me pretty quickly, but that dark open band on the left caused me some anguish. After I posted, I had second thoughts and decided I should have finished on the left with a white slat as I did on the right. I'm pleased to hear that you don't find that a flaw. As always, thanks for your thoughts.

That's one car that should have STAYED top secret...

Very cool shot. It almost looks you you imposed the image on the non-white areas between the inserts.

Do I win anything?

Sorry, the ratings monster ate the 7/7 I wanted to post for this shot. It is incredible!

Kudos on your skill and creaitivity. As Gordon stated, you really nailed this one. If you want to shade a subject in mystery, just hide it behind a veil of intersecting vertical and diagonal lines!!!

And I'm REALLY upset that Ray identified the vehicle before I could. Oh well . . .

(THANKS! You know why.)

You are, of course, correct. The prize committee is now meeting to see what they have to award. They're notoriously slow in making decisions, however, so don't hold your breath. While I'm no car expert, I'd be willing to bet that the old Edsel was a better car than a lot of later junk that came out. Early nineties Chrysler K cars come to mind, and the Cadillac Cimmaron is another. The car was parked behind one of those chain link fences with slats inserted. No tricks involved.

Thanks. Sorry about that second place in name that car. See comment to Ray as to your award. Thanks for the look.

Yes, this is the view from my front widow. Took two bottles of V8 until I had enough strength to turn that damn car on its side. ☻

Very unusual and well composed , it looks like a writing "military" code. It took me time to observe and understand the car form, the way it is placed on the frame , the yellow line. Well for me it stays David's mystery ...originaly composed ,and interesting when one takes the time to observe.

I found the car to be more identifiable from the thumbnail. It's an Edsel. I wonder if you've ever seen one of those. Thanks for looking.

It's an increadible image David, so original...just enough info to understand (or try to....a car? ) what's behind the fence...and the fence give lots of visual energy, amost hypnotic...

Is this one of those mall posters where you stare stupidly, mouth open for about five minutes before you finally see a cheetah? The nothing seems more interesting than the something behind it. You often make me think, "Hmmm. There's more out there to photograph than I think."

An excellent shot of one of my favorite cars. I even loved them in the late '50s before I became a driver. Great shot David.

Thanks. Yeah, you figured it out. But nobody seems to have gotten the fact that the subliminal message is to go out and buy a big monstrosity of an American made vehicle, so we will not have to give the Big 3 any more tax money.
