rarmstrong 0 Posted January 9, 2009 This is my favorite corner of our small downtown. It started snowing as I left work this evening. This is an old bank building that now houses a gift shop and gallery. Comments appreciated, thank you! Link to comment

john pearson 0 Posted January 9, 2009 Lighting is excellent. Gives it that nice warm feeling. I like the reflection of the snow at the bottom of the picture. You should try to sell it to the gift shop. ( I get 10% of sale. LoL) Great job. John P. Link to comment

rarmstrong 0 Posted January 9, 2009 Thank you, Jean-Marc, Linh, John and Keith. Actually, I know the owner of this shop and I let her use one of my shots of this at night for her business Christmas card this year(with credit for the photo to me on back of the card). It was my first public exposure outside of PN. I'd like to learn enough to do some more business with her shop in the future. Printing these is another matter. Best regards, Dick Link to comment
dandem 1 Posted January 9, 2009 Wow, Dicky...this is superb. Such a well controlled shot. You captured the falling snow so very well, with perfect composition. Your past generous rating prevent me from posting 7,s. Well done on this fine shot. Regards, Lawrence. Link to comment

timzeipekis 5 Posted January 9, 2009 There's just something so romantic about a scene like this. I love evening winter strolls through my hometown, the street lights illuminating the falling snow. Something those warm weather folks would never understand. This looks great and really gives me that same feeling, so mission accomplished! Link to comment

cjtj50 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Hi Richard....Oh I love how you captured the snow coming down under the old lighting. I also like the placement of the old building. Have a great weekend 7/7a Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 10, 2009 I thank you all so very much! This is truly a very nice small town winter scene in real life. I have taken many shots of this under various conditions and I was happy that the snow and the light were good for this shot. Dennis, I'm happy to remind you of the UP. It really is a wonderful place to live. We have had nearly 100 inches of snow so far with over 2.5 feet on the ground. It's 5 degrees as I write and it's supposed to be 25 below by Monday night. Makes me dream about Florida! Lawrence and Mike, always good to hear from you guys! Tim, I'm happy to bring out your romantic side:-) John, so nice to hear from you! Michael, there is beauty all around us, we just need to open our eyes...really open our eyes! I'm flattered by your comment! Brian, looking back, especially at the lighted window, I understand your reference to Edward Hopper. Thank you! Cynthia, I'm so happy for your visit and your kind comments! Warm regards, Dick Link to comment
dacamera 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Damn! Brian beat me to it, I was going to say 'Night Hawks'. A cracking image. Does the building have a slight ever so small lean to the left or is it me? Simon Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Thank you, Mehmet and Simon! Simon, I think this is lens distortion. I shot this with the 18-200 VR Nikkor zoom at 32 mm. On my monitor it shows a slight lean to the left with my leveling tool. I just downloaded a trial of DXO software which may allow me to correct this...if I can figure out how to use it! Best regards!
