Dusk Descends - Canyonlands

harrylichtman

As I headed out of Chesler Park in Canyonlands NP after a long day hike, I kept an eye out for interesting compositions as the sky to the west became increasingly more dramatic. I was having trouble creating a simple and eye pleasing composition with all of the shrubs, grasses, and stumps along side the trail. Out of the chaos I came upon this find, and I felt like my searching could stop. Fill flash was used on the near tree.

The setting sun painted the western skies as I headed out of Chesler

Park in Canyonlands NP. Comments and/or suggestions welcome.

Wonderful capture. Your DOF and your lighting are really super. 6/6 anon and no way deserving of the 3 rating you received...RAY

good use of wide angle to emphasize the foreground and create a nice sense of depth. good arrangement of elements throughout the frame and good job with the processing - the colors are vibrant without going over the top.

Perfect Exsposure and DOF sharpness from fore to background. I like the cut of the horizont and the Foreground is super with the old tree with added grass and cactus. Wonderfull soft light you can be really pleased with this shot it was worth the trip and your effort. Congrats.

Beautiful.

There is so much in this image, detail, texture, patterns, fabulous colour. Looking at this I can almost smell the desert!

Really nicely done. At the first sight it looks a little busy in the foreground but if one looks longer, it is all very thoughtfully arranged and every element has its place so it works together just perfect. Colors and level of detail in the image are amazing.

Wow, simply wow! I love the total pantheon of colours here. The purple of the cactus pads with the hints of cream in the brush is delightful!
