What a cutie pie ... I feel like giving this babe a smacking kiss on the butt! :)

And you're not even family! Imagine how we grandparents feel. :-) Thanks for stopping by. Always appreciated. Best, LM.

After a lifetime of paying ones dues, this is a grandparents' privilege of enjoying a grandchild's backside without having to clean it. :-)

Love the little pinch of hair, Len. The back shot makes me wonder about his face cheeks. Guess we'll have to wait for future posts.

And enjoying we are! Another plus side of grandchildren is that they are a willing source of photos, always ready to pose for grandpa. I thought (post exposure) that the little tuft of hair you speak of nicely echos the shadow between the cheeks. Getting really artsy don't you think? Thanks for taking the time & for your thoughts. Best, LM.

Congrats granddad! Nice studio work. I too like the little ducktail, such nice dark hair and so much of it! This must be nice in colour too.

Thanks for stopping by with your views. The colour version is also nice but I decided to offer this B&W version as it is my favourite. It was scanned from a 5x5 proof on my entry level flatbed because I was too cheap to have the lab scan the negs at the time of processing. So slowly we learn! Best, LM.

Niche>noun: a shallow recess. Yup, that about describes it! In this shot I guess I have indeed found it. :-) Good to hear from you again Ken. Don't be a stranger. Best, LM.

All time clasic. You've done a great job. As easy as one might think this pictures can be I found out they are not, every time I try to do something like it with my 10 month old I can't.

Best regards to your work

Alex

Yah, they're really wigglers at that stage aren't they? This is just one of about 2 doz. I took of this session. Nice to have a helper off camera to redirect their attention when it wanders (about every 2 seconds). Thanks for taking the time to both view & comment. It's what turns the wheels on this site. Best, LM.

Your comments\suggestions on how to do this type of shot more

effectively will be gratefully received. Best, LM

the question doesn't belong: nothing can be done to make the shot 'more effective' - this is a perfect delight as is ! Except you may consider losing the thick black frame. No frame against the light grey backdrop would fit the little angel just right here. Again, a special and unique point of view for a baby picture. I love it... Carlos

Your visit is appreciated as well as your comments. We could hardly get him to co-operate when facing the camera so..........a different approach. Go with the flow! We actually did get a few face-on after a while but I thought this one different enough that it stood out from the rest. As for the frame, I would never print it that way. I'm simply trying to maintain some consistency to my posts. Best, LM.

Len, my mother taught me to always pay attention to the softest side of the baby to get their essence. Fortunately for me, I had 3 of them to prove this point. This image is wonderfully done. Pure pleasure to view.

This little wiggler kept turning from the camera so I decided to take a another approach & exposed his 'softer' side. (though, in truth, at this age they're soft all over) We later got some frontals but I kind of liked this different view. A single flash into a shoot-through umbrella did the trick for lighting. Glad you liked it & thanks for taking the time to dig into my folder for it. Best, LM.
