C&C Welcome

Thanks for looking, Rich

We have had a spellof very cold (-7C here) and foggy weather over the past few days, so Iset out in hope of capturing how my surroundings had been transformedinto a comparitively quite harsh environment. It may seem silly tosome, but this is actually quite cold weather for England! Hope youenjoy the photo anyway, let me know what you think if you get the time :)

No comments so far. If anyone could explain why they dislike this it would be great as I always want to improve :). Where is the 3/3 rater hiding?

this is getting quite close to being abstract. I like the twisted perspective, the brighter "dead" foreground, and then the live tree in the background. The darker middle-ground creates a good feel of depth. Don't worry about the 3 raters. There are some who do this on purpose to affect ratings of other photographers, and then there are those that don't think about the photos, they don't feel them - if the photo doesn't show an oooh-aaah place in splendid colours, they rate it very low. In both cases, they are as close to photographers as a Kia car is to an F1 race car. Cheers, Micheal

Thank you for your thoughful & encouraging comment Michael! Really does help. I don't expect everyone to love my photos, they never do, it would just be nice if someone would make the effort to explain where they feel I am going wrong is all. I guess that is one of the floors of this site & its rating system. I regularly share photo's at dyxum.com (an excellent photo site for a-mount photogs) where you can *only* critique/comment... if it weren't for people like you, i wouldnt share on here at all :).

Thanks for your thoughts on the photo itself too, what you have picked up on is exactly what I tried to create so it's always wonderful when someone gets the same connection with a photo.

Maybe if we all actually stopped, listened and felt what each photo was trying to tell us this site would be a lot more productive :)

also, don't forget there is a "Rate Photos" forum here, that gives people chance to only rate - you cannot type in comments. Sites like Pnet depend on big numbers of people - that brings in advertisers, plus those of us that are willing to pay those 25 bucks every year. If Pnet got too restrictive, many of the people would run away = possible lost revenues for Pnet. Of course, the danger of trying to cater to as many people as possible is that some photographers that take it seriously get discouraged. It is my experience, that people who leave smart-ass or stupid comments have either no photos in their portfolios, or their photos are shitty.

However, there still are people who think, feel, and care. Cheers, Micheal
