An empty and kind of timeless photograph; what with the winter, the clouds racing over, and the long sweeping bridge. Very nicely seen, composed, and captured. Well done! Cheers! Chris

Thank you, Chris! I've been looking back at my images from 2008, mostly to get rid of the junk from my computer. I had several images of the Mackinac Bridge in winter. I spent some time re-working this one. I'm glad you like it.

Best regards,

Dick

I used to cross the bridge almost every summer on my way up to my grandparents, since I've become interested in photography, I've never been back up there. I'd love to spend some time up there photographing......as for your photograph......I like your approach, not letting the bridge dominate the photograph which seems to be the cliche for Big Mac. Instead you've made this vast expanse of frozen lake and sky the subject and the placement of the grass not only adds depth and scale but injects some color contrast as well. Very nice!

Great use of the wide angle on one of the best lens available :-) Marvellous scene with a to-die-for sky...Take care mate!

Thanks, Tim for the nice comments! I was driving back home from Toledo on this day and when I crossed the bridge, the setting sun, clouds and light were just great. So I drove into St. Ignace and searched for a spot where I could see the bridge from a distance. At first I ended up in a cemetery but then there was a street that dead ended at the lake which is where I took this one from. This was last February, a month after I got my camera.

Best regards,

Dick

Thank you very much, Keith! I too, really like this lens and find it to be extremely versatile and sharp under most conditions.

Warm regards,

Dick
