ian_clark3 0 Posted January 1, 2009 Happy New Year Emma I like the composition of your shot very much. On my screen which I calabrate regularly the orange flowers in the foreground are so orange they loose detail in the petals. This is something I have struggled with especially on roses that are bright red in color. I seem to always loose some finer detail and the petals, although the right color, seem to blend into each other. From looking at other people's work and experiementing I found making the picture a little darker helps and reducing some Hue in the picture helps bring back the detail. It's a delicate balance as you want the saturation high to get the vibrance of color but you also need some detail in the petals. ahhhhh bright colours. I've looked at some of your other flowers and they are fantastic. cheers . Link to comment
pfranklin 0 Posted January 2, 2009 Emma I do love your creativity, I do have to agree with Ian, it's so orange that it loses detail. Did you have trouble as I did in the posting process...I wonder if it was really this orange and maybe overexposed? I would love to see you rework this and repost as it's a beautiful photo. pfranklin 0 Posted January 2, 2009 Emma This is better! I think that this is a hard color to get the exposure right as well. I have terrible luck with oranges and yellows, lack of experience on my part. Thank you for sharing this lovely flower and I hope 2009 greets you well my friend. Warm regards, Pamela Link to comment
pisq 0 Posted January 4, 2009 This is a pleasing design, the main subject nicely placed and balanced by the smaller orange petals. I think some of the decisions about color, and how much, depends on the intent of the design. In my opinion, finer color could be interpreted as more optimistic... Link to comment
