It's tough to get these guys in focus in flight, it's even tougher to expose

the white neck correctly. If you have any tips please help me out, thank

Hi Nancy, the neck was washed out, therefore the white feather detail was lost. I would like to expose that correctly next time :).

I have a tip, get a Nikon! If its white and there is sun, go negative compensation at least one or until you get rid of the blinkies. Better to lose detail in the blacks than blow the whites. Still a very cool image, sharp and good blurred background. You can go the Arthur Morris route and clone the detail from the back onto the neck. (o:

I see what you are saying about the neck area. Sometimes you must overlook some of the small things and focus on the overall picture, which is still very good.

You continue to inspire. I have struggled with this very species. I see the issue you are pointing out and wonder if there was some detail that the shadow/highlight tool would have found, just thinking...

White neck?  I generally shoot auto exposure at -1 or -1.3 stops when shooting white birds.
