Hey Tim... If I had not already seen the color version I would be raving about this one. Sometimes I find the B/W better depicts a scene, but for this one I prefer the color. There's something mystic about the colors here; but this is an excellent conversion.... Mike

Hi Tim

This is a very fine shot. Well composed and dramatic. It has a kind of mystery. The surface is hard and firm and stil the picture is soft and poetic. Tommy

Michael - I'm torn between the two, they both effect me in different ways and usually I prefer B&W, but the color shot is very satisfying.

I like the feel of the vast foreground against which the small and simple tree is seen. The time of day means that the shadows on the stones suggest a lot of texture to the ground so there is much to "feel" here.

For me, the color is warmer and softer, the black and white colder and accentuating the isolated nature of the tree. I prefer the color version.

The sky in the black and white seems to have bands of magenta and blue which I find distracting. I'd be curious to see the sky desaturated of those colors.

A superb landscape with such simple but effective elements. I really like the grainy effect of the of the ground and the tracks leading the eye to the single tree. The tones are excellent.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the generous comments.....

Fred - The color might be a product of the split toning I used, although I'm not seeing it on my monitor.....

Like the texture, tones, soft lighting and contrast... Simple, but a Very Beautiful B&W Composition!!! Well Done!

This could be another planet entirely, save for that one little tree. You have so many exceptional photos that utilize this particular compositional style, long lines leading into a central statement.

Tim, I like them both, but the incredible stark and sharp detail of the road in this version grabs the final prize! I really like your perspective and the low angle of the sun. Really great work!

Best regards,

Dick
