aldrich 0 Posted December 28, 2008 100 yards in front of tanker on the highway when it exploded. As always, constructive comments are welcome. Thanks! --Ryan Link to comment
triskelphotography 1 Posted December 28, 2008 There is so much to be said for being in the right place at the right time. This is an incredible catch! The fireman walking into the scene with all the smoke and fire in front of him is great. Great Catch! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted January 6, 2009 What Kelly said. Plus, fine positioning of the fireman in the frame. Under the circumstances, with all the excitement you still had the presence of mind to pay attention to composition. Takes discipline & a practiced eye. Well done! Best, LM. Link to comment
aldrich 0 Posted January 6, 2009 Thank you kindly everyone for the comments! This shot won third prize in a local photo contest. I have about 40 shots from this tragedy. I actually submitted them to iReport the day it happened and got a phone interview and my pics displayed on national TV (CNN)! I was shaking so badly, and the lens I had at the time did not have VR, so I also knew enough to raise the ISO to try to stabilize it. Looking back, it was an amazing moment. Unfortunately, the driver of the truck died a few hours later from his injuries. I hope I get national exposure again, but not for something like this... Thanks again everyone. --Ryan Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 7, 2009 This is a very good timing and well composed this dangerous sad damage fire can do and does here. You have well presented the fire , the density of smoke on the L ,and the fireman walking toward the event on the R. I think you have well chosed the angle. Very dramatic event ,well exposed has a good photojournalism characteristic. ( Sorry but I don't rate photos, I find comments to have a better value ) Has to be seen large ,but it is too large.and I wonder what was the size you have uploaded it with . 900 pixels width is good enough to see large and not too large. aldrich 0 Posted May 7, 2009 Pnina, Don't worry, I'm a comment guy :-). Thank you so much for feedback! I upload most of my shots at the max 1500 pixels. Thank you for the advice! --Ryan Link to comment
