jpo3136b 0 Posted December 30, 2008 I don't usually go for this type of photograph; but, this one was done well. It got my attention. Yes, it does evoke a mood. Probably the only "to improve" suggestion I could offer would be to employ models who were less beautiful. I suspect these are professional models; sometimes that makes it harder for people to relate, since the models don't often look like people we know. Other than that, a personal quirk really, it's a good shot. The tones, colors and focus are all effective. This photo does, indeed, bring our attention to the fabric patterns in the dress. I think the shadow patterns on the glove, camera left, middle, contribute to that. The diagonals in the stairwell contribute. Effective shadows here. Good work. J. Link to comment
John Peri 1,028 Posted December 31, 2008 Excellent Jody, I love this once, particualrly the defensless stance of the model which does not mean that I like defenseless women but simply that the act of giving seems more sincere. Indeed, the model is delgihtful, but I must say that I don't agree with the gentleman above. The majority of my models are "everyday people" and I don't see why that should prejudice a picture. Everyone has beauty, our role in glamour workis to bring it out, but there re all kinds of beauty and at all ages. Wishing you much happinness for 2009 and continued success with your photography. You are certainly well positioned to understand glamour, having worked both sides of the lens. Link to comment
peternientied 0 Posted January 2, 2009 Beautiful. The photo has a story telling capacity - it's like a single shot from a movie - the next David Lynch or so. Excellent use of colours is the critical factor in this photo - it helps to create the special mood. regards Link to comment
jody frost 0 Posted January 15, 2009 Wonderfully constructive comments! Thank you all for taking the time to give me your thoughts!I agree a little with Odom...these are pro models and therefor not your everyday peeps. My circle of family and middle aged friends would have a hard time pulling this off.. or rather I'd have a a hard time getting them to look this great! <<>> But that wouldn't stop me form trying! Thanks again everyone!Jody Link to comment
