Really well captured macro Mike.

It looks a little soft to me, and the break in the red on the right side is a bit distracting.

I tried adjusting levels and sharpness, stretching a bit to move the bee to the right and added some saturation.

The original is great!

Simply wanted to suggest a possible alternative presentation.

I always appreciate it when people take the time to leave their thoughts, particularly if they include suggestions for improvement. Even if I do not agree with all the suggestions I try to learn from the experience and viewpoints of others. With regard to the perceived ‘softness’ in this image; the final steps in the processing of this image includes the merging of two semi-transparent layers. The first was a Gaussian blur layer to give an overall soft glow to the image and the final layer was a sharpening layer. The intent was to produce an image with sharp detail surrounded by a soft glow. Thank you again, Mike.

A macro with vibrant color. Overall softness robs its charm. Trick is to get the head in good sharp focus

Mike , What a great macro shot. I love the colors. Very nice contrast. Great composition too. I like both yours and sharper version that Dave did. I think the softer version fits the colors better, it seems to create more drama. The DOF works really well with this shot too. Congrats on a very nice capture.
