John Crowe 165 Posted December 26, 2008 It was clear and -20 C, so I took the Nikon D2X instead of the Kodak SLRn, knowing the Nikon battery would be better. The Nikon performed flawlessly at that temperature and the battery did not lose any significant power in the hour that I was out there. My 80 year old 4x5 did not do so well. I could not use my 90 SA or 65 SA because the shutters would simply not close in the temperature. I pulled out my trusty 135 Zeiss T* with original Compur shutter, again about 80 years old, and it performed flawlessly! So I managed to get this shot on 4x5 plus one other composition. fabiano 0 Posted December 29, 2008 Why there is only one track in the middle of way?Don't look like steps, Do you drive a motorcycle at -20ºC? Great picture! Link to comment
John Crowe 165 Posted December 30, 2008 The superwide angle makes this deceiving. It is a foot path only and is about 12 feet wide. The single path you see down the middle is where people have walked in and out, mostly with their dogs. In the two hours I spent here three people had brought their dogs for a run. I am sure they thought I was crazy! I was quickly trying to record this same shot on 4x5 when a lady took interest and wanted to know what I was doing and if my camera cost the same as a small car. I eplained that the large camera was an 80 year old antique! Link to comment
