robert_armas 0 Posted February 3, 2002 overall well done.Just a suggestion,if you crop it by the beginning of the pipeline,it will improve perspective, design and composition(the pipeline will draw the view across the picture and the sky will be more accentuated(with aprox 2/3 of the horizontal view. dave_johnson3 0 Posted February 4, 2002 I'm sorry to say this one doesn't do anything for me. I really like most of your work Jeff, but this one just leaves me flat. There seems to be too much contrast and I think maybe a vertical comp. might have worked better. Link to comment
steve_bingham 0 Posted February 4, 2002 I disagree with Robert. Cropping at the pipeline (in my opinion) would have produced a very trite composition. Following all the rules and producing another boring "rules" image. By including something below the obvious diagonal crop you have created a more dynamic and interesting composition. You have now balanced the ditch on the left with the beginning of the diagonal on the right, causing the eye to vibrate back and forth, thereby creating wonderful dynamic tension. Most of your works are a study in composition. I would suggest that all aspiring photographers take note. You have a simple camera and take simple photographs, but you are the MASTER of composition. I do not say this lightly. Link to comment
