Alpenglow in The Garden of Eden

harrylichtman

Clouds lingered over the La Sal Mnts. in Arches National Park as the sweet light of sunset painted the landscape. 3 vertical images were used to created the detailed image. I chose a long zoom to compress the scene, and give the mnts. a bit more prominance in the scene. Turret Arch and the North Window(I think) can be seen to the left of the image.

One of your best photographs to date, bar none! This would be a very marketable image IMHO. I'd not change a thing; this is pretty near perfection to my eye. This has gone straight into "My Favorites." Happy Holidays to You and Yours, Harry! Cheers! Chris

Thanks Chris, I appreciate the feedback. I was only in the area for Thanksgiving,, but had a couple of good opportunities there. I'll be posting another image taken later in the week from this general vview that I think has this beat. The sky was much more dramatic. You can be the judge! Have a great holiday, Harry

Wonderful light and composition. I agree with Ray. This shot tugs me home also, I grew up in the valleys an canyons between the foreground and the snow. What a place, what a picture.

I'm not sure there is much I can add to what Chris said. Very calm, natural and arrestingly beautiful. I love the sweep of clouds top left.

Sure is a beauty Harry. The contrast of colors makes it Pop right off the screen. The two up-sweeping clouds fill the sky with interest, but I really like the thin horizontal clouds in the middle. It is surely one of your best, which makes it one of the best we will see on this platform. 3/3 and 4/4 raters... eat your hearts out; this is a 7/7 in a well composed box!! A present for all of us to revel in during the holidays. Thanks for the gift Harry!

I clicked on a thumbnail-less link to this, and the first phrase out of my mouth was "holy s&$t". That's always a good sign. The orange/blue/orange color sandwich is fantastic here. You caught exactly the right moment, when the color on the clouds gave a beautiful complement to the already-orange of the sandstone formations.
