Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted December 22, 2008 Every time I look at these hunting pictures, I am struck again by how violent and mean spirited the quest for survival is, and it makes me question for the upteenth time the concept of a benevolent diety. I mean, one second the poor fish was swimming peacefully, perhaps in the company of three of her young ones, at peace with the world and her surroundings, perhaps nibbling at an algae or two, and the next she was being grabbed in a vicious death grip, dragged out of the water in excruciating pain to suffocate to death from lack of oxygen. Far off the horizon, of course, are three, maybe four cooing, helpless little chicks, starving and dying of thirst, wondering if they would ever see their mother again. Perhaps, to complete this cycle, as this osprey with the anxious expression on her face hurries home with food for the family, a mongoose, also charged with providing for HER family, is slithering up the tree bark, seconds away from what she sees not as the children of this hunter we see here, but sustenance for her family. As a design, methinks there is a rather glaring lack of intelligence to it all. Link to comment
knobby6 1 Posted December 22, 2008 As usual you really have a flair for writing and quite the imagination I might add. It makes for good reading, but no babies involved here, at least not yet. I look at it as a part of the food chain, of which we are at the top. Truly for them, it is survival of the fittest, for use luckily we have a big brain. Link to comment
wmhoodphoto 0 Posted December 22, 2008 Besides being a remarkable image...the image quality at ISO 1250 is just as remarkable. Happy Holidays, Monte. (I'll introduce myself next time I see you at BC.) Link to comment
