Bathed in the incredibly bright full moon light of last Friday, a

scene of the country side around my hometown of Scalenghe in Piedmont,

Italy.

Your C&C are as always highly appreciated, thanks for your time

I like the intensity of the colour here. It plays nicely against the linear balance of the trees and the road. There is a good manner in how the depth of the blue mirrors the depth of the gravel, effectively splitting the frame into quadrants of shape and light.

An excellent night shot, Paolo. Looks almost like daytime except for the star trails. How does your sensor behave as far as noise is concerned with long exposures ? Did you try to see a time limit beyond which you would not recommend to go ?

Thanks all for commenting, that's very appreciated.

Peter, whatever the limit is, I didn't reach it yet. Actually, I don't think there's any limit, as far as you expose correctly. I love long exposures and I'm used to make very very long exposures (several minutes) in broad daylight too, thanks to that amazing filter of mine known as B+W 110, a ND filter with a dimming power of 10 stops. All I can tell is that, if you expose correctly, there's not a visible increase in noise to images. Of course even a slightly wrong exposure won't be forgiven by the extremely dense sensor of the 50D, but this is quite true with any other camera.

Cheers,

Paolo

Thank you, Paolo. I have a very similar filter, Hoya ND400, but I still shoot film. It is always a surprise when I have it developed, the long exposures give interesting results sometimes.
