It is a whole series which I have followed the light and net improvisation. I add another version of this series.

Thanks for your impressions.

There is a kind of haunting feel to the loaded image, a sense of desolation over the undcipherable figure. Light & darkness play off each other well here . I like the attachment too.

I find myself as fond of the colors as much as the figures. That green and yellow out the windows is so nice with the white and black interior and that lovely bit of red. Very nice.

A really good composition and a striking use of color. The leg sticking out to the right is a bit of a distraction, I think, from an otherwise classic use of space, form and color.

This has such mystery to it. It reminds me of Wyeth's Christina's World in the sense of longing for something else, something away from one's reach. I like how the minimalist color scheme in the interior contrasts with the bright, sunny outside.

Cherlyn, Marjorie, Alberto, Ahmet, Maurizio and Spencer.

It was a rehearsal in a theatre where all its walls are painted in black, and light coming in from outside. All that series was done with my following the play of light, and shadows, affecting the inside and dancers.

David, the green outside was a strong contrast to the black inside, thanks

Jack, the dancer was seating in profile cutting her leg ,for me was not good for the composition, that has a triangle form with the net. Thanks , always good to read your comment.

Jeff, I'm familiar with Wyeth work of "Christina's world". Even though the story is different, the longing is there, thanks, interesting association

Pnina;

I am drawn by the sense of mystery in this photo. Both the scene within and without are hinted at but not clearly revealed. The view from the window has suggestions of life and hope. While the figure seated on the floor, inside looking out, is tinged with sadness, bathing in second hand daylight, shut off from the outside world.

I have mixed feelings about that bit of window on the far left. On the one hand it has a curious destabilizing effect on the composition, which I like and on the other hand it does draw the eye away from the figure. A wonderful job on exposure for a very tricky situation to capture effectively.

Ilkka thanks

Emmanuel, thanks and happy holidays and coming new year to you and your family.

I agree that there can be more possibilities, it is a series of improvisations with light and shadows and dancers.

Gord, all that Series was experimental using the theatre possibilities. I thought about cropping the half window and left it as is because I thought that the red net on the dancer is a strong element that balance the composition, and the half window is richer composition wise. I did not think of it as destabilizing, but it is a good point of the mood. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation it is always interesting and educational to read your reasoning for the choices you make.

I think this is a suggestive image, because the dancer is facing away from us and because the material laying off to her side is almost like an echo of another figure. Beautiful lighting effects and the delicacy of her dress and the lighting on it makes this move. I think either decision, to crop or not, is valid, and changes the feel of the photo. I find more pensiveness with the second window cropped out, more focus and room for imagination in the actual dancer and her gaze. But I can see where that second window could feel as if it provides context and continuity in the photo as well.

Thanks for your comment and feedback.I have some more of that series of " follow the light" rehearsal. I think that it is right that cropping the other window as Gordon and you see as a possibility will change it ,bring closer the dancer , and both are , I think ,good possibilities. I liked the feeling of the big space with the half window, as a scale and a continuation, as I have explained, but I will keep in mind the cropped version suggested by both of you.

... except to perhaps crop out the left window. The cloth spread out to the left is a lovely image, and the red ruffles. One of my favorites of your recent shots.

I was not aware that you did a wide "tour" in my work....thanks, I 'm so glad to see you, read you,( and know that your are well).

You have not read probably the previous comments of Gordon and Fred and my answer, they talked about the crop you did, and I agreed that it is a good , onother posibility as well. Seeing your crop ,yes, it is a good possibility but changes the feeling of space, scale and continuation that I liked in the original, with the half window. I hope to see you and your work more active again, and always tell me what you think when you comment here, it is important to know your ( and others )impressions, my dear friend.

This photo was sent by the choreographer to the newspaper, as this week part of that dance will be danced in a gallery. I have sent it with and without the half window as you have adviced. as you see it was printed in one of the known papers here, and they have chosen the one with the cropped window... Thanks for your thoughts. The last announce in the ads is about the event.
