marcogarrone 0 Posted December 29, 2008 a very old picture, taken on Kodachrome 64 slide film, printed on Ciba and eventually scanned. comments welcome, as always. Link to comment
korovev 0 Posted December 30, 2008 Great capture, Marco! Perfect timing and light. I would only crop it a bit at the top, all those shadows are distracting. Sorry if I always suggest to crop your photos, but in this case I really think it would improve :-) Anyway, excellent black and white, keep on posting your old stuff! Link to comment
Ciao. Barbara Link to comment
momagnum 5 Posted December 30, 2008 Hi Marco Your composition and your grey tones are out of this world. This is art. Classic photografy at its best. Tommy Link to comment
marcogarrone 0 Posted January 2, 2009 Marco, you know how squeamish I get about cropping pictures. I remember an interview with Sebastiao Salgado stating "nao corta o negativo!". But since I'm not Salgado, it is definitely better if I do crop my pictures more often, especially when you advise me to do so. Honest, I have already made huge progress on this matter. This is however a particularly difficult case, as it has been hung on my kitchen wall for about 12 years and I'm very accustomed to see it as such. Ok,12 years ago cropping meant using scissors and not Photoshop or Lightroom... As a sign of trust as soon as I'll have my pc back I will try some cropping, in the meanwhile if you want to have a go, please do! Tommy thank you vey much for your appreciation! as far as grey tones are concerned they came out of sheer luck. The original is a colour slide with almost no colour, printed on ciba paper, then scanned as a colour document and eventually turned to b/w on PS. So I have to admit that almost no idea of the final result, but I'm very glad you like it Link to comment
