stevesieren 0 Posted December 16, 2008 Hello Mark, How have you been? It was nice meeting you at the print workshop. How did you end up hearing about that workshop? How is the Carizzo Plain? Hope you're shooting it a lot since you're so close. Nice shot, especially for something that no one would enjoy other than seeing a nice b&w photograph. Very artistic compostion. I think you might play with some more local contrast adjustments. I think you might be able to get some deeper blacks and some midtone contrast. I like the mysterious feeling it brings. Have a nice Christmas & New Year too! Steve S. Link to comment
Jeff Lear 0 Posted December 16, 2008 To me, this doesn't appear true B&W but rather extreme de-sat. Either way, I like it. The thumbnail caught my eye and the larger image didn't disappoint. It's an apt title as well, I feel like the aqueduct is offering me the horizon's light. Nicely done. Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted December 16, 2008 Thanks Eugenio, Steve and Jeff. Good to hear from you Steve. I actually had perused the Muench website about 5 years ago and registered so I could look at the galleries. Over the last few years, they would send out e-mails about different promos. I haven't been to Carrizo since September and I need to get out there when the snows blanket the higher elevations. The winter here in the valley is actually a good time to shoot because there are more storm clouds. Summer can bring months of no clouds, boring! Jeff, you have a keen eye. I used the CS3 black and white adjustment, but then I layered the b&w file over the color original and re-introduced a very small amount of color. I then lowered the saturation to bring back the monochromatic quality. Almost no color remains, but it is there. Link to comment
