Todd Kowalski 0 Posted December 15, 2008 David, this has a lot of depth to it, just sort sucks you right into it. The lines of the curb and sidewalk are very bold and narrow with good color contrast to the hood line on the car. The parking meter and barricade really strike out. Looks like there might be a hint of that Mc.......guy's work here. However this is totally yours and a wonderful piece that it is. Regards, Todd Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted December 15, 2008 Nice to hear from you again. Thought you departed this life for another. I'll not be offended by the reference to the Mc character. I can see where you could come to that conclusion. As much as I admire and enjoy his work, that would be a real compliment. Of course he would never post process as heavily, but that's another story. Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted December 15, 2008 This is one of those pictures that you chance upon, and you have a sudden compulsion to snap the shutter. Later on, as you pore over the image, you stop to wonder what compelled you to take it. Still, if you went around that scene 100 times, you would shoot it 99 times and kick yourself that one time you did not take it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 15, 2008 I like the way the geometry and perspective play together. Good color coordination as well. There wasn't a ticket on the windshield, was there? Link to comment
timkeller 0 Posted December 15, 2008 A winning image, Dave. Great eye here, seeing and producing a pleasing combination of lines and colors. There's little reason for this image to exist as reportage: this is art, and original as can be. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 15, 2008 This is a nice complicated angle, and at the end it shows exactly the needed details for a street parking.... what your eyes is finding ,is always amazing! ;-))The diagonal and colors takes are well composed. Link to comment
dandem 1 Posted December 15, 2008 Excellent angle, Dave. Makes for a very different perspective. Well seen and captured. Regards, Lawrence. Link to comment

maggies 0 Posted December 16, 2008 Terrific angles David...Were you standing on top of a truck? I like the red, white and grey...Well seen...Marjorie Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted December 16, 2008 just added to my favorites.... and not only because it is square....great colors, lines, angles. the framing is quite effective here. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 17, 2008 A picture after my own heart, David. To me this is a true abstract and the trick for a photographer is to see it as such, I believe. The strong diagonal orientation, the placement of objects within the picture space and the careful coordination of color and tone is what makes this art and not just a picture of a parking meter and a striped barrier. ps: and just a word from that Mc character; if I could post process as well as you, you'd better believe I would.. bosshogg 4 Posted December 20, 2008 Emmanuel: I'll tell you that in a sense you are right, that one might wonder what the hell there was here, but I had a couple hours to kill with camera in hand, so I was shooting anything within a hundred yards. I knew I wanted at least one good image for my wanderings in the wilderness. Fred: Thanks for your thoughts. It was just a bit of fun. I was on an enclosed bridge that runs over the street, and happened to look down. Tim: Thanks for the high praise. Pnina: Thanks. Above are the details of how it came about. Take care. Lawrence: Once again, thanks. Doug: There you go getting all dramatic again. :) Marjorie: Thanks again. The explanation of my being there is above. Linda: I actually do not like square that much. Something seems more natural to me in a wider angle. But if that helps get it into your select few favorites, I happy. Jack: The trick you've used to cheat on all of us is that you make such damn fine images, that you don't need to post process. Thanks for the praise. Laurent: You're always so kind to me in your comments. Well, I do appreciate it. Take care. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 6, 2009 This is great, David. It works very well visually; composition is spot-on and the color and contrast are lovely. The fact that it's a red car next to that red/white sign adds to it too. Very well-seen! Link to comment
