Thank you all for your kind comments! I was shoveling snow last night when the moon appeared over my road and I thought I'd get out the tripod(for a change) and try some shots. There were ice crystals in the air and some very high wispy clouds with moon shadows of the trees on the road.

Regards,

Dick

Nice shot. You can feel the cold coming from the screen. And the road/driveway looks so quiet and dripping in solitude.

Thanks, Lawrence! Actually I didn't do anything to make the sky look the way it does. There were ice crystals in the air which formed the ring around the moon. There were thin high clouds blowing by which gave the streaked look in the 30 second exposure. I bumped up the exposure by about a stop to give better definition to the road and adjusted the highlights to reduce the glare of the moon. The look of the sky is just the long exposure under these conditions. It was a beautiful cold night with an almost clear sky which is rare in winter here.

Have a good weekend!

Thank you, Tim! I always think of you when the tripod comes out. I was wondering how I could do this and get the moon to look like a moon and still have the rest of the shot look the same. Maybe using HDR with bracketed shots, but I don't have the software for that...yet. Anyway, this was kind of fun.

Have a good night!

Yes, Chris, it's very cold and we have over 60 inches of snow! Thanks for stopping by and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Best regards,

Dick
