Moose-Watch Pond

harrylichtman

I had hoped some moose would enter my field as the sun rose over Mt. Tom, but no luck. Some sweet light and fog ehanced the scene briefly as the sun played hide and seek with the colorful mountains surrounding NH's Crawford Notch.

Just gorgeous! I simply cannot wait to come spend some time in the fall in your beautiful state, and in neighboring Vermont. This just has it all. Well seen, captured, and processed. Happy Holidays to You and Yours, Harry! Cheers! Chris

OK, first off, this is a stunning composition. The band of saturated fall colors underneath the fog line is spectacular. It implies vibrancy without overwhelming. The best parts for me are the evergreens and the understory. The comp works well, giving way for the eyes to travel from the immediate foreground to the pond, then to the distant pines and beyond. Of all of your recent postings, this is my favorite. Yes I have been perusing your recents, but I have had little time to get into making comments, until I saw this one. The ratings I am seeing must be from someone with rocks instead of brains. I am compelled to give you a 7/7, but not without a minor observation. The nearest evergreen has a subtle grad line. That is OK, but what I think will give it balance is to deepen the recessed shadows. It looks like you may have opened them up, but I feel it would work better if they were a shade darker. Very good stuff Harry!!

Thanks guys for checking in. Chris - You will really enjoy our fall, especially. Mark- thanks for the comments. I did have to lighten the top of the tree a little, as the grad line was more apparent. I tried to lighten only those branches extending outward, as it more obvious in the tree braches below- I think I was a little sloppy. I too do not get to comment as much as I'd like too. It looks like you are off to a printing workshop and Chris has been to Joshua tree. Sounds like fun all around. Have a great holiday to you both.

This is quite spectacular! So many layers and colors! I have a small monitor, and if Mark hadn't pointed out the grad line issue, I wouldn't have noticed. Nevertheless, this is just too special to give anything but 7's. Bravo!
