... for the dedication, and for the smile you give me. I remember Ralph well, but didn't remember how still and calm the bay waters were that day. This is a wonderful black and white treatment, and I am proud to have spent the time shooting with you in Cape Cod.

The boat is so often a photographic subject that it's hard to keep from making a cliche. I've seen similar shots that, while good, just don't rise to your level. Why your specific one works I don't know. Boats have a lot of inherent symbolism. The simplicity of this one with it's detailed reflection has a very tranquilizing effect. I know you will disagree with me, but I might have framed it without the clutter across the top. But I know you have your reasons, and I know that you are masterful in your compositional skills. Very nice my friend.

Again a senseful quote of the surrounding, here in the north.

Such a still capture. The empty dock and boat invite the viewer to enter the scene, sit down, and enjoy the view. The tones are so nicely captured. Crisp and tranquil. A lovely shot.

I like the simple clean lines. Well felt the stillness of the surrounding.

I loved your photo and my first reaction was "I would have cropped part of the upper portion". Now, after reading David Meyer's comment; all I can do is to declare that I agree with him! On the other hand, I can understand that without the upper part the photo becomes rather more coventional... Perhaps, that was the reason?

Dennis it is a small token for all the wonderful time I have had together with both of you ,and the special time you have devoted to show me all the beautiful spots Cape Cod has to offer!

 

Dave,I will explain my reason to leave the upper part. First I tried it with out ,and it became regular and a bit boring for my taste, second reason , this part hints that there are more behind....;-)) and as a composition imo, it is richer that way. I'm glad you liked it Dave.

I see I have some catching up to do in between spurts of snow shoveling. You've been a busy girl :-)

 

I love the subdued tones in this. The entire image feels soft and gentle. I do not mean soft in terms of focus, rather that it feels to my eye like velvet would feel to my touch. Your B&W treatment pulls me in and wraps me in a warm blanket. I feel calm and content with no plans and no promises.

This is a very fine, and I'm sure, fitting tribute to Dennis. The shot is a beautiful capture of tranquility. There is nothing left to say.

Your Ode to Dennis Aubrey is beautiful. A classic ode is structured in three parts: the strophe, the antistrophe, and the epode. This image has three parts. Simple yet elegant composition ,very good exposure and tone. Pnina, let me thank you for introducing me to Dennis. His images are in classical mould .

very nice aesthetics, reflection and tone Pnina....what strike me most is the "Ralph" though...in this serene quiet, and unpersonnified scene, the "Ralph" mention project my mind to the person behind this little boat, probably used to join a larger boat anchored little away from here...it triggers imagination...
