dabar 0 Posted December 2, 2008 About color, composition and form. Not a `photo' but certainly animage. As a modern photographer, but an `older' man, I work with a DigitalDarkroom. Tonight there was a storm there... Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 2, 2008 "Close the pod doors, Hal." Wow. This "image" in nothing short of spectacular. It truly is a " . . . study in color, composition, and form." As such, it calls upon the viewer to suspend ordinary perceptual categories and to interact with the image's essences - color, composition, and form. The colors, btw, are simply gorgeous. Ratings are superfluous, but for whatever it's worth, this one earned 7/7. I wish I could assign that across the board to the totality of your work. michael Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted December 2, 2008 Thank you Michael for your overly kind words. I agree that the image possesses the attributes you stated... BUT... they were the result of chance more than conscious design. What I am saying, is that I did not `see' this result in advance. It just happened.Even though I would rate this 7/7 if it were done by someone else I seldom rate that high. I feel that the work, on its own, has to be extraordinary to get a 7/7.Now 6/6's or similar DO help offset the `BOT Produced' 3/3 ratings ;-)For me, substantive comments mean Much More than ratings. I count `Number of Views and Number of Critiques/Comments' as more useful indicators of the quality of an image.I thank you and all the others who have taken the time to leave meaningful comments and critiques. markst33 3 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi Dave, yet again another cooool image and one that I like to look at for a long time. Can you give some explanation of how you achieved this. What was the original image. And anymore information you think might be helpful to us who wish to learn. Cheers, Mark S., Dublin. Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted December 3, 2008 I hesitate to even try to answer the question... BUT... I will try.The original image was of three small areas of colored reflections on a brown, semi-gloss table top.I intensified the color, raised the contrast and adjusted the levels to drop out the table surface.I then applied a 90 deg swirl, copied the result, overlaid it on the original and flipped it vertically.I then re-sized the combined image from horizontal to vertical, 8X10 to 10X8 and added more twist in the opposite direction. That's about it.
