jerrymat 3 Posted November 30, 2008 Very strong portrait. A thought: if he were looking at her instead of the camera it would be stronger yet. There is a little feeling that he is protecting her from us - or was that intended? I once photographed a wedding where the groom was from Africa and the bride from Norway, so I understand the range of skin tonalities involved. That was in the film days and my lab slaved over the printing to get things to work. Digital has even less tonal range than film, so take what I now say with the proverbial grain of salt. Her face is a little too white - to the point of losing texture. Slaving over the computer might make it better. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted February 12, 2009 Thank you, you two. :) Jerry, yes the 'aim' of this capture was to achieve the feeling that you stated - that of protection - and even a dose of 'this is mine'... In regards to the skin tone, I hear ya. Sharon's face is bordering precariously on too white - but I was quite careful with not pushing it over (on my calibrated monitor). It prints well too. However, I do respect your observations and might revisit the toning when I next get a chance to have a bit of a play... :) Link to comment
