Naftali coined it... Strong diagonal of the dry sand extended by the seesaw and emphasized by the lines in the middle left part. Very well composed, the rule of thirds works here. I also like the contrast of the crisp foreground with the softer sky. One thing that keeps my mind busy is whether I would leave the upper end of the seesaw touching the horizon. On one hand it allows a creation of a triangle in the left part, on the other, having the upper end above the horizon would connect the land and sky. I cannot decide. What are your thoughts ?

I like it!... It is original!... Very existentialist without a human form... "One thing that keeps my mind busy is whether I would leave the upper end of the seesaw touching the horizon." - a Peter Krenek good question!... Best regards.

Thank you all for your thoughts !

Naftali, you nailed it nicely. I was dancing like a dervish there, until I was happy with camera point and composition :-)

Peter, good point. I liked the round-off version when composing, and now it is too late.... Maybe I should have tried your version, too. A quick try with the clone tool showed me that it would have been a valid alternative. Maybe I prefered this because of the more stringent geometry

Jose, yes, a special motif. I was itching to play with PS effects, but this works too

A simple but very effective comp, Like it alot. ..The seasaw leads they eye out of the frame, but also leads us back again...anchoring the whole shot!! Cheers!

Very unusal subject in an unusual location....;-)) I think that I like Peter's point about a little upper the water front, would have connected both parts, still I like the diagonal of the seesaw with the lighted one on the sand, and its texture. I like as well the blue color with the faint one of the sky.

Carsten, I have greetings for you sent by Dennis Aubrey . I was in the States and his guest for some days.He has asked me too, so here I'm doing it ....;-))

... I wouldn't change the image because I like the way everything "touches". The pole touches the tire and the center beam and the tide line. It creates a fine balance in the image, especially with the sweep of the sand patterns and the waves leading to that same intersecting point. It is almost as if you are marshalling the forces of nature to point.

Thanks to Pnina for her kind words, and we did have several conversations about you and your admirable work, Carsten. You have been and continue to be an inspiration to me and a model for precision and artistry in photography.

A flying visit from me Carsten, but I have to tell you that this is a knockout. The flat lighting and lack of dimensionality make this surreal. A slightly higher camera angle separating the seesaw from water might have made a minor improvement. Otherwise I have nothing to offer.

Leigh
