Recently, I spent a small part of a day in New York City with ViP - remember Vi? In spite of being FROM New York State, I have very little hours clocked in the Big Apple. It was a fun day of walking and shooting architecture and having chinese food in Chinatown. We both commented over and over about the need for a WIDE angle lens in NYC!

Again, I'm not sure if this is appealing. The bridge with the wires in the foreground is the Brooklyn Bridge. I loved that you could easily see the Statue of Liberty in the distance. Your thoughts on this?

Lou Ann, a long time....I know Vi very good, and it is two weeks that I myself returned from NY, visiting my family and PN friends in Boston and Cape Cod.Pity that I could not meet you too....

It is a very nice composition imo,Even though I did not go to see this statue this time, it is such a well known icon, and you have well " framed' it' as it looked through the bridge form.

How are you Lou Ann?

This shot is good to explain a trip but in and of itself is not that interesting. The image is a little to "dead center", the view beyond the wires is hazey, it may be that there is too much going on.

Very nice composition with the icon statue and tug boat.

It's nice to hear that you and Vi had a wonderful day together. I envy you guys!

My best wishes for a Very Happy and Healthy 2009!

The critiques above, both positive & negative, are valid but I simply like the way you've framed all the various elements. The statue being centered doesn't bother me because it alone is not the main subject and occupies a very small amount of space. All put together these elements, bridge, statue, tug & ferry, speak to the fact that this is New York. You've nicely minimized the amount of boring sky area or broken it up with the cable works of the bridge. I would classify this as an environmental portrait of the Brooklyn Bridge, and a good one at that. Best, LM.
