The bench seems as quaint as an old Singer sewing machine, sitting austerely among the confetti of celebratory leaves.
Lannie I checked out the old picture. The bench looked so much more aggressive and ambitious back then. It looks a lot more reflective nowadays.

Election Eve, 2008, Livingstone College III: Waiting for the Next President This was shot at Livingstone College after sunset on the eve of the 2008 election. Since Livingstone is a historically black college founded not long after the Civil War, this election was particularly meaningful, and there was a sense of quiet optimism on campus on this Monday evening before the nation would elect its first African-American president.
