Having overlooked the coot for some time, I'm becoming quite

interested in their behavior. They are constantly getting into fights

and if you look at their feet, they are quite an impressive piece of

weaponry. Huge by any standards with very sharp talon tips. The bill

goes all the way to the top of the head with, what looks like a red

battle crest on it. Appears to me they are fighting for the alpha

position.

I love it, Monte, You are right. They are really ferocious little birds. I had one come up to me and try to untie my shoe lace. In my porfolio, I have two in battle also,(Which you already rated :0) thanks) but I really love this one with them in the water. Great action shot.
