Guest Guest Posted November 16, 2008 Certainly has the Ansel look. Was this scanned? May be a tad more sharpening might help to improve the edge acutance but the contrast and tones are top-end as it is. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted November 16, 2008 That's what I'm after, the AA look! After I achieve that level then I'll quit! :-) Nice of you to say that but the only thing we (AA & I) have in common is liking B&W prints. Low res scans, about 3mb, (69 cents each at time of developing) which I use for the web & inkjet prints up to 10x10, were made by the lab. I'm too cheap to go for the higher res scans initially. If I get a shot where I need to go to larger than 10x10 I can scan my medium format negs at a higher res then. You may have a point about the sharpening. I tend to go easy (perhaps TOO easy) on the sharpening for fear of ghosting on the sticks & branches. Nothing worse than an oversharpened image. Always a pleasure to hear from you. Don't be a stranger. Best, LM. Link to comment

lrenard 0 Posted December 4, 2008 This is one of your best picture I think. I like the "static" and "moving" ambiance.static with the trees and moving with the forms of rocks that seems to be giants laying on the ground! very nice picture. Of course the b/w treatment reenforce this sensation and contribute to a very good picture : bravo ! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 5, 2008 I took this one with my Bronica SQ Ai though I have others in my folder taken the same day with a Canon A540 P&S that I like as much or more. At this size (web) & up to about 8"x8" I'm hard pressed to tell them apart. Sometimes makes me wonder why I still hold on to the Bronica. Since I'm an amature & seldom if ever print beyond 12"x18" the Bronica is a bit overkill. A 'White Elephant' if you will; too expensive to sell at current low prices and too much camera for my current needs & uses. Thanks for your helpful critique & kind remarks. Best, LM. Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted December 6, 2008 "....Old Rolleiflex...! Yeh, I have one of those too, a 'T'. Like many others here I am a bit of a packrat when it comes to old equipment. Can't seem to part with anything. That said, I still feel my best (most satisfying) work comes from the lower end of my collection. (Canon A540, Minotla XG-M, etc) I feel most comfortable when using these gems. Best, LM. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted February 29, 2016 Wow Len I just saw this while looking at your recent images and had to comment. This is a dramatic, stark great image. The light and shadows make this image work beautifully. My kind of stuff. Take care.Best Always, Holger Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 29, 2016 It's been said that my best work is behind me. :-) Thanks for taking the time to go digging through these oldies. This is a popular and interesting location to photograph. Should go back sometime. Best, Len. Link to comment
