peter_daalder 0 Posted November 15, 2008 An experiment in HDR.Possibly not a very pretty result, but I thought the subject matter warranted an attempt at digital alteration. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted November 15, 2008 That's some serious digital aggression, Pete. I think this type of tone mapping has been overused to the extent of losing its intended impact in many instances. Maybe if the background remained a little more natural and toning down the truck a bit can be effective as well. Did you take it for a test drive?...! Link to comment
Matthew Brennan 3 Posted November 17, 2008 Good concept, this is a more pleasing dynamic range re-work to view than many. basic image elements are all there, composition, framing, subject stands clear in the frame and the perspective is great being neither head on nor side profiled only. The colour pallate is excellent, the truck appears grubby, scratched and stained as well as and truly worked hard and long. Yet the amber hues reflect strength and endurance to me. Well done on this, a fine photogrpahic illustration. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted November 22, 2008 A photographic illustration is a fine way of summing this up, Matthew. As Michael has pointed out, the background (the sky in particular) looks unnatural. However, I liked this result and have never before experimented with this technique. I still think that the subject matter suits the treatment here... Thanks also to Pierre for having a look. katzpjs 50 Posted August 5, 2010 My friend in Wyoming, who introduced me to HDR, loves this style of tone mapping. I have posted a few HDR images that are close to this style but mostly I prefer the more natural look. I agree with you that the skies warranted the harsher look but for my tastes it is a bit too much here. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 2, 2010 Joe Fagan, Heavy Haulage - sounds like a modern version of Oliver Twist. Depending on the work being done , might need a visit from the Monkey Wrench Gang. Link to comment
