I can really see the pilot very clearly in this photo, it almost looks like a toy airplane with a little action figure guy inside of it, :D, although I do know that isnt the case. Amazingly sharp image, again I will say, this air race has been a great series of photos. Great job Mike.

Hi Christa, it does look like a toy plane! I think it’s a combination of the uniform background that could be a studio setup, the pristine paint treatment that looks almost ‘too good’ and the sharpness that again is reminiscent of a model shot. To be honest, this was the easiest shot of the lot; don’t tell anyone, but Hannes Arch was not racing at the time. He had just completed his final run and his time was good enough to ensure him of taking out the 2008 championship. In this photo he was performing a low speed fly-by in front of the crowd to accept their applause.
