This flower grows naturally in the island of Luzon (Philippines). Today, it

is cultivated everywhere.

This one is is for the DON!!!

Very nice capture of details. My only nitpick is it looks slightly under-exposed and I believe that some of the old background may still be showing near the lower stems (or is it my imagination?). Still this is a nice picture overall.

By the way, are you from the Philippines?

christine, i like the sparkle in the flower and this yellow/green color which somehow you manage to get in your images (i remember it from your "at early morning, paper and cafe please" image) but frankly, i would have liked to see a bit more "pop", a bit more light bouncing off these beautiful orchids.

Thank you all for your comments and advice.

I do not live in Filipinos. I discovered this magnificent country because a part of my family is native of the Philippines. I try several regulations with my camera, but the result is not still optimal. But I assure you, this orchid was very nice.

My honest feeling ok? ...Ok.. this I wil rate 6-6.

It is fresh, good on color..light is fine and its soft but yet sharp...

Ok.. My opinion .. looking to your overal work.. try ' cropping ' that is a 'step up' in your work

What am I saying..Crop out everything the half flower.. the stam.. leave ONLY the main flower .. so our atention is ONLY focussed on that! Rule in photography:

Less is most of the time better, but 'MEA CULPA' ..saying this I admit I often am lazy myself. Still .. maybe pointing this out now and than keeps us sharp. Also with the crop it will be a fat 7-7 I am sure..

You are good in this work. A big smile from Holland,

John

I agree with John's comment above re the half flower. Interrupted imagery is not desirable in good photos. Certainly crop is one way to handle it, but you might also consider using your "clone" tool to simply clone the black in the background over the half flower. You could extend the cloning to all but one of the stems as well and simply clone the part of the stem coming from the upper flower all the way down to the lower frame. All that said, (whew!), you have a SUPERB shot of the upper orchid, complete with perfect lighting, texture and crisp detail. Very nice work here.
