A very special sunset near Santa Barbara from last night. The bonus was I took this

alongside Marc Muench, son of David Muench, the famous landscape photographer.

Marc has become rather famous in his own right, having numerous books published

and also conducting the photo workshops for the family. He really knows how to bring

on a sunset. Thanks for your time and make sure to click the image for a Larger

Looks like you had quite a special evening. Was it difficult to concentrate what you were doing, or were you tempted to see what he was doing? The long exposre worked well for the breaking surf, but some of the sharpness of the waves farther out to sea adds a nice contrast. A little bit of artifact is visible along the highest hills on the right-not sure if that is a result of upload. Another moody shot.

I'll be in the San Diego area next weekend, visiting relatives, not much time for photography, but it will fun to see your coast. Oh, sent Brain another email about calendar sample, payment, no response yet.

Regards, Harry

Very sweet sunset my friend. The composition is awesome and I love the colours reflected in the sea. I may try and bring out a bit more highlights in the LR corner. Otherwise, gorgeous.

Thanks Mike, Harry, Younes and John. Harry, I was plenty busy trying to get a grip on this landscape, but I was definitely torn, wanting to spend time with Marc. He was also plenty busy, schmoozing with guests of his open house invitation. I truly enjoyed meeting him and will see him again next week for his printing workshop, which I will be attending. We will be shooting again and I am hoping for more of the same. This is a clean file so the artifacts must be from the upload (actually I just went back and looked at the file at 100%. Those are actually small clouds along the ridgeline). Younes, I probably will not try to pull on the shadows any more, I think the only thing that will come out are creepy crawlies. I had to vanquish a small amount of noise from there already. As far as the comp, pretty straightforward, but I like how the S curve is revealed, from the coastline up into the sky. Thanks Mike and John for the kind comments. You may notice that I don't have any good coastal shots in my portfolio. I finally joined the club with this one!
